Editorial policy

Catoctin Curtain publishes original editorial writing for readers interested in community theatre participation around the Catoctin region.

Sourcing. We build articles from public reference material, general descriptions of theatre roles and our own reasoning about rehearsal practice. We do not claim to have measured search demand or conducted ranking research. Where we summarise a published description, we paraphrase it and say what it covers. We do not reproduce source text at length.

Reader questions. Each article is organised around a specific question a reader might genuinely ask. The question sets the scope of the piece, so an article about recording blocking does not drift into casting policy or ticket sales.

Accuracy and limits. We describe roles as they are commonly understood, while noting that responsibilities vary with the scale of a production. We do not invent productions, calendars, staff or organisations, and we do not present a pattern as a requirement.

Scope exclusions. We do not give medical advice. We do not provide prescriptive procedures for gas, electrical or structural installation, or for rigging and hazardous stage effects. Planning, materials, comparisons and visual literacy are the kind of technical ground we can cover responsibly.

Images. Illustrations on this site are synthetic. They are created to support a topic and are not documentary photographs of any named company, cast, venue or event.

Local claims. We avoid unverified addresses, event schedules, prices and invented access rights. If a statement cannot be supported, it does not appear. When we are uncertain, we say so in the article rather than smoothing it over.
